In the near future, a fast payment system will be introduced in Kyrgyzstan, as announced by the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank, Medet Tairov, at a business breakfast organized by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

He noted that work is actively underway to improve the accessibility, speed, and security of financial services.

According to the representative of the National Bank, the new system will allow for instant transfers between accounts of clients from different banks. A pilot project is planned to start in the current quarter.

Medet Tairov also emphasized that the banking sector of the country demonstrates stability against the backdrop of economic growth. There are 24 commercial banks operating in Kyrgyzstan, and the assets of the banking system exceed 1.2 trillion soms, while the loan portfolio exceeds 500 billion soms. The deposit base continues to grow, indicating trust from both the population and businesses.

“Our goal is to maintain a balance between stimulating innovation and preserving the stability of the financial system. The resilience allows banks to respond confidently to external challenges,” he noted.

Additionally, Tairov mentioned the implementation of the ELQR technology in Kyrgyzstan, which represents a unified national standard for QR payments and ensures full cross-platform compatibility. Payments can be made from any banking application, regardless of the bank or electronic wallet.
