Unified Accounting 2025: The Number of Cattle, Sheep, and Poultry Has Increased in Kyrgyzstan

- At a recent press conference, Gulzeynep Mursabekova, head of the agricultural statistics department of the National Statistics Committee, reported on the positive dynamics of livestock growth in the country.

As of the end of 2025, the following data was recorded in the republic:

The largest number of cattle is concentrated in the Osh (22%), Jalal-Abad (21%), and Chui (17%) regions. In terms of cow population, the leaders are the Jalal-Abad (22.6%) and Osh (22%) regions. Sheep and goats are primarily found in the Jalal-Abad region (22.5%). Horses are predominant in the Naryn region (26.3%), while poultry is concentrated in the Chui region (45%).

At separately located facilities, such as wintering grounds, sheepfolds, and poultry farms, the following was registered: 213,000 head of cattle (11.5% of the total population), 956,000 sheep and goats (15.1%), over 100,000 horses (17.8%), 16,000 pigs (57%), and 3,900,000 birds (45%).

The unified livestock and poultry accounting was conducted from December 10 to 25, 2025, by local government bodies in 231 rural areas and 33 cities. The accounting covered all categories of farms and separately located facilities, such as wintering grounds and poultry farms.
