The ban on the export of live cattle, implemented in Kyrgyzstan, has not led to a significant increase in meat prices. This was reported on the radio by Uran Chekirbaev, head of the food security department of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

Chekirbaev noted that this ban, which was implemented in August of last year, played an important role in curbing the sharp rise in meat product prices in the domestic market.

He added: “This measure has significantly helped prevent a substantial increase in prices. Currently, we are considering the possibility of extending the ban for several more months, given that inflation continues to remain at a high level.”

According to the National Bank, inflation on food products in the overall price level structure has decreased, while prices for non-food products continue to rise.

“Currently, meat prices are stable and do not show sharp changes. The Ministry, together with local authorities and municipalities, conducts regular monitoring of prices on the ground,” he said.

Note:

On February 10, 2026, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry presented a draft law for public discussion regarding the extension of the ban on the export of live cattle for a period of six months. This measure aims to ensure the domestic meat market and stabilize prices amid increasing consumption and inflationary risks.
