At today's meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with agricultural policy, water resources, subsoil use, environmental protection, and ecology, deputy Alisher Kozyuev raised the issue of the need to improve the condition of pastures.
He reminded those present that significant funding, amounting to millions, had been allocated for the creation and development of the pasture committee.
“Has this committee met the expectations placed upon it?” he posed a rhetorical question.

In response, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev noted that the pasture committee was established in 2009 and, perhaps, its creation made sense at that time, but today such a necessity is absent.
He added that most pasture committees have failed to demonstrate their effectiveness.
“Previously, such committees were not subordinate to local authorities or akims, as they were considered non-governmental organizations. The Audit Chamber conducted checks on their activities but did not have the ability to influence them,” he clarified.

The deputy minister also reported on current reforms in the pasture committees, according to which they will now be subordinate to akims.
During the meeting, information was discussed regarding the project "On the approval of the agreement on financing the project 'Development of Livestock and Market-3' between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Fund for Agricultural Development."
