Japarov emphasized that the presence of six out of nine types of food that the republic produces independently is an important indicator of food security and resilience. Previously, most of these products were imported from abroad.
The president added that the government's plans include achieving complete self-sufficiency in the remaining three types of food, which will allow for a complete cessation of imports.
In addition, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Erlis Akunbekov, stated that Kyrgyzstan is already self-sufficient in the production of dairy products, potatoes, vegetables, sugar, meat, and eggs; however, vegetable oil and fruits are still imported.
