At the opening of May futures on the London ICE exchange, the price reached $81.5, but subsequently fell to $79.4, which corresponds to a growth of 9.02% according to trading data.

The last time the price of Brent exceeded $81 per barrel was on June 23, 2025, reports TASS. The increase in oil prices is linked to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

Analysts from the Norwegian consulting company Rystad Energy predicted a sharp rise in the price of Russian oil, which could reach up to $20 per barrel. The main factor for such a significant increase could be the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz; however, Iranian authorities stated on Sunday that the closure of the maritime corridor is not planned.
