This year, spring fieldwork started earlier than usual. This was reported by Turatbek Idrisov, head of the department for the implementation of solutions in crop production and horticulture at the Ministry of Agriculture, on the radio.

According to Idrisov, spring arrived two weeks earlier compared to last year due to the warm winter. In the fall, farmers were given recommendations for preparing for the new season, including advice on soil treatment, water conservation, and timely procurement of seeds and fertilizers.

However, in the southern regions of the country, the pace of fieldwork has slowed in the past week due to unfavorable weather conditions, although the sowing campaign had been progressing actively before that, he noted.

In particular, in the Aravan district of the Osh region, more than 400 hectares of potatoes have already been planted, and in the Jalal-Abad region — over 200 hectares. In the Osh region, 500 hectares of wheat and barley have been sown, of which 300 hectares are wheat and 200 hectares are barley. In the Chui region, more than 2,000 hectares of grains have been sown, including 1,500 hectares of barley and 500 hectares of wheat.

Currently, the main crops for sowing are wheat, barley, and potatoes, while other vegetable and fruit crops are in the seedling stage in greenhouses. The seed supply level in the country exceeds 87%, and there is a sufficient amount of seeds in seed production farms and in the warehouses of large companies.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, 28,000 tons of fertilizers have been imported into the country, more than 22,000 of which are being sold through over 40 retail outlets. Delivery continues depending on demand, and seeds of wheat, barley, potatoes, corn, and sainfoin are distributed with a 30% subsidy.

The readiness of agricultural machinery has already exceeded 85%. However, in the Naryn region, fieldwork has not yet begun due to weather conditions, which has affected the current indicator formed by the southern regions and the Chui region. A total of about 22,000 units of machinery are planned to be involved in the spring campaign.

Idrisov also noted that 7 million liters of fuel and lubricants have been allocated for the work at a preferential price of 74 soms per liter. Fuel can be obtained through district agricultural development offices from material reserve warehouses. According to oil traders, there is no shortage of diesel fuel in the country.

Overall, as Idrisov emphasized, the preparation and conduct of spring fieldwork are proceeding as planned.
