According to the city administration, the suspect worked at the municipal enterprise "Zhashyl Charba" from July 15 to December 22, 2025.
It was previously reported by the Bakai-Ata district labor department that the 32-year-old husband of the victim is listed as an employee of the city administration and also sustained minor burns.
According to the press service of the Talas region police department, on February 5, 2026, a 25-year-old M.T., born in 1998, approached the Lenin District Department of Internal Affairs in Bishkek. In her statement, she reported that on October 15, 2025, in her home in the Bakai-Ata district, her husband D.Z. (born in 1994) had a quarrel without reason, kicked her out, and then doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. As a result, M.T. sustained serious injuries and was unable to speak about the incident for a long time.
On the same day, October 15, 2025, the Bakai-Ata district police received information about the fire from a local police officer. The information was recorded in the crime report log.
During the initial investigation, witnesses were interviewed. They reported that while starting the stove, the fire did not ignite, after which gasoline was sprayed, and the flames erupted, resulting in burns for both spouses. M.T. and D.Z. were taken to intensive care, but due to their serious condition, they could not be interrogated.
Later, the victim did not inform her relatives or law enforcement about the fact of domestic violence. In connection with this, a forensic medical examination was appointed.
On February 5, 2026, M.T. filed another statement, clarifying that the incident was a result of domestic violence, claiming that her husband intentionally doused her with flammable liquid and set her on fire. Due to the new circumstances, an additional investigation was initiated.
A criminal case has been opened in this matter under Article 130, Part 2, Clause 1 ("Causing serious harm to health") of the Criminal Code. The suspect D.Z. has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
