The state enterprise "Electric Stations" continues the active implementation of projects for the modernization of existing capacities and the construction of new facilities until 2026, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic. In this context, details about the current works are presented.

Modernization of the Uch-Kurgan HPP

At the Uch-Kurgan hydropower plant, the modernization of two hydro units is ongoing. The general contractor is the company CNEEC. According to the Ministry of Energy, the work is proceeding on schedule.

Currently, the dismantling of the runner chamber and the assembly of the rotor are being carried out on hydro unit No. 2. Simultaneously, preparations for the dismantling of the turbine shaft and the removal of auxiliary equipment are underway on unit No. 1.

Work is also being conducted on the 10/0.4 kV switchgear. Measures have begun to extract the gates in the spillway structure (elevation 542.0 m) and to create anti-filter curtains in the dam.

Reconstruction of the substation at the Kurpsai HPP

In 2026, the reconstruction of the 220/110 kV substation at the Kurpsai HPP is planned. New autotransformers with a capacity of 125,000 kVA have already been delivered to the site.

The project includes the replacement of old autotransformers (AT-1 and AT-2) with a capacity of 63,000 kVA with modern analogs.

This modernization will significantly increase the reliability, stability, and capacity of the electrical network.

Design work will soon be completed, after which construction and commissioning activities will begin. Once these are completed, the equipment will be put into operation.

Project "Kambar-Ata HPP-1": Implementation and Progress

The Kambar-Ata HPP-1 is considered an important project of the century, according to the Ministry of Energy. As part of the preparation for construction, the laying of power lines, the construction of roads, a bridge over the Naryn River, and other necessary facilities are underway.

One of the priority tasks for 2026 is the construction of a bridge that will provide access to the construction site. Work continues year-round, even in winter conditions.

The bridge is expected to connect with the right bank and will become the main route for delivering materials and workers to the site, according to the report.

The technical specifications of the bridge:

Currently, the construction of the supports is complete. Metal structures are being assembled on the shore and installed in stages: out of 40 m of the structure, 26 m have already been moved over the river.

"The structures are custom-made and have passed quality control. There are 24 specialists working on the site. The installation of metal structures and the development of infrastructure are actively ongoing," the department stated.

The Kambar-Ata HPP-1 is one of the largest energy projects in the region with a design capacity of about 1,860 MW.

The completion of the bridge, scheduled for early July 2026, will create conditions for the active phase of the main construction of the station.

Kambar-Ata HPP-2: Preparation for the Launch of the Second Hydro Unit

Preparation for the launch of the second hydro unit at the Kambar-Ata HPP-2 is ongoing. At this stage, mobilization is taking place, which includes the construction of temporary and permanent facilities.

Current works include the construction of a living camp for personnel with a kitchen, an office building (interior finishing and electrical installation are in progress), as well as living quarters for consultants, which are nearing completion. The construction of a laboratory space is also underway.

"At the same time, project and estimate documentation for the main technological facilities is being developed," the press release states. "These works create the necessary foundation for moving to the next stage of construction."
