Starting from January 1, 2026, new excise tax rates on alcohol will come into effect in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the State Tax Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The increase in excise rates is regulated by a government resolution adopted on December 18, 2025. The document outlines a phased increase in excise taxes on alcoholic products from January 1, 2026, to January 1, 2029.

In particular, starting from January 1, 2026, the excise tax rate on vodka will be 200 soms per liter.

It is worth noting that alcoholic products play an important role in generating excise revenue for the state budget. In 2025, as of the end of the third quarter, over four billion soms were received in the budget in the form of excise tax.

The main share of excise revenue is traditionally provided by strong alcoholic beverages.
