According to data from the EDB, significant changes have occurred in the nature and structure of Chinese foreign direct investments (FDI) in the Eurasian region, as reported in the 2025 report.

Analysts highlight four main trends in the dynamics of Chinese investments in this region. One of them is the increase in the share of greenfield investments.

From 2016 to mid-2025, the share of projects created "from scratch" has risen from 43% to 60%, while the percentage of deals involving the acquisition of existing assets, including expansions, has decreased from 54% to 37%.

The study emphasizes that this indicates a long-term trend in which Chinese companies are focusing on creating new production capacities in sectors such as industry, energy, and transportation in the Eurasian region, the authors of the report note.
