- On January 19, 2026, during a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competitiveness, Deputy Ulan Primov asked what measures are being taken in case pork is found in halal products.

In response, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sultan Akhmatov reported on an incident that occurred in Kyrgyzstan.

“The company ‘Rikha’ claimed that its products met halal requirements, but subsequently, pork was discovered,” he noted.

Akhmatov added that the company underwent accreditation with violations, and its license has currently been revoked.

The deputy also inquired about possible fines for violators.

Sultan Akhmatov explained that there is a law in the country regulating the halal industry, which contains all necessary requirements. However, fines for violations are not specified in it, so new penalties were proposed: for individuals — 75 calculation indicators (approximately 7,500 soms), and for legal entities — 230 calculation indicators (about 23,000 soms).

Primov expressed the opinion that before imposing fines, it would be better to first issue a warning to the company.
