Ponomarev on food trucks: When a farmer has direct access to the market, prices are always lower

Economist Sergey Ponomarev expressed his opinion on the new project of the Ministry of Agriculture, which involves the creation of mobile sales points for meat products at affordable prices. He noted that this initiative contributes to the formation of important social infrastructure by eliminating unnecessary links in the supply chain from producers to end consumers.
“This initiative certainly has its advantages and will be especially beneficial for consumers. Social prices are of significant importance for those who do not have high incomes,” he emphasized.
Ponomarev also pointed out that the creation of such a structure reduces the number of intermediaries, allowing for direct contact between farmers and buyers. This, in turn, ensures affordable prices for meat, which is extremely important for supporting vulnerable groups of the population. “If such a network of food trucks is fully developed, it will become even more attractive to consumers,” he added.

“We can see this in the example of fairs: when a farmer has direct access to the market, prices for products are always lower,” summarized Sergey Ponomarev.
