A Kyrgyzstani man has been detained in Indiana after the truck he was driving was involved in an accident that killed four people

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that on February 3, Bekzhan Beishkeyev, a native of Kyrgyzstan, was involved in a serious traffic accident on Highway 67 in Indiana. According to preliminary data, he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a minibus, resulting in the deaths of four people: 50-year-old Henry Aiker, 25-year-old Menno Aiker, 19-year-old Paul Aiker, and 23-year-old Simon Jiro.

“The driver was traveling east on the highway when, according to police, he failed to stop for a slowing truck ahead. As a result of the high-speed collision, four passengers in the minibus were killed,” added the Department of Homeland Security.

According to ICE, Beishkeyev entered the U.S. using the CBP One app and obtained a commercial driver's license (CDL) in Pennsylvania. He is currently in ICE custody in Fort Wayne after being detained by Indiana police, awaiting immigration proceedings.

ICE emphasized that this tragic situation could have been prevented if a driver's license had not been issued to someone illegally in the country.

“Bekzhan Beishkeyev received his license from Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro through a program initiated by the Biden administration. This decision led to horrific consequences, and four innocent people lost their lives as a result of the accident,” noted Assistant Secretary Trisha McLaughlin. “Allowing illegal immigrants to operate trucks poses a serious danger, as they often do not understand traffic laws and the language. Governors who provide sanctuary to illegal immigrants should stop issuing commercial driver's licenses to prevent further tragedies.”

ICE representatives also noted that there has been a troubling trend in recent months: illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds are beginning to operate commercial vehicles, which threatens road safety and leads to tragic outcomes.
