At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee held on February 10, 2026, Deputy Altynbek Kylchayev raised an important issue regarding the development of the halal industry in Kyrgyzstan and its export potential. He noted that the total global turnover of halal products is $3 trillion and inquired whether Kyrgyzstan has exportable goods in this sector.

Kylchayev asked the question: "Does Kyrgyzstan export halal products?" This was answered by Deputy Minister of Economy Sultan Akhmatov, who stated that the republic exports meat products, including sausages, to Russia and Kazakhstan.

The deputy also touched upon the topic of meat imported from China, asking whether it meets halal standards. Akhmatov regretfully replied that this meat is not halal. "No, it is not halal," he confirmed.

Furthermore, Kylchayev emphasized the need for clear labeling on store shelves so that consumers can see whether the meat is domestic or imported. The Deputy Minister of Economy explained that there are regulations in the country covering all stages, from slaughter to the sale of products.

"The Bishkek Center for Metrology and Testing has signed an agreement with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan. They check products for both food safety standards and compliance with Sharia norms," added Akhmatov.
The deputy also inquired about the volumes of meat imports from China; however, Akhmatov reported that accurate data on current imports is unavailable.
