The Ministry of Energy reports on plans to increase the capacity of the "Przhevalskaya" substation located in Karakol. This electric grid enterprise of the Issyk-Kul region intends to replace one of its transformers.
Currently, the 110/35/10 kV "Przhevalskaya" substation operates with two power transformers. In 2025, a 25 MVA transformer will be replaced with a new one that has a capacity of 40 MVA.
This year, as part of the planned modernization activities, the 25 MVA transformer will also be replaced with a more powerful one, which will increase the overall capacity of the substation by 15 MVA to 80 MVA.
This modernization will lead to the following changes:
- Increase in the overall capacity of the substation;
- Reduction of the load on the electrical networks;
- Provision of stable and quality electricity supply for the residents of Karakol and nearby villages in the Ak-Suu district.
Currently, the substation supplies electricity to 14,752 subscribers. For comparison, during the same period in 2023, the number of subscribers was 13,759. This indicates a growth of almost 1,000 subscribers over the past three years and highlights the need for consistent modernization of the electrical networks.
It is expected that the completion of all modernization works will take place by the end of 2026.
