- On January 28, a national forum titled "Data and Security in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" is taking place in Bishkek, dedicated to International Data Protection Day.

At the event, Professor Lothar Determann, representing the Association of Professors of Public Law in Germany, discussed the current challenges faced by businesses and governments in the context of rapid technological development and the threats of personal information leaks.

In his opinion, in today's world, companies need to find a balance between adequate protection of personal data and the necessity of access to information.

Access to personal data in different countries is regulated by numerous laws concerning data protection, information storage, national security, and competition.

The professor also provided examples from American legislation, where in most states, citizens can authorize medical institutions to share data about their patients.

Among the recommendations for businesses, he highlighted the need to create internal regulations on data security, implement processes for authorization and obtaining consent for data processing, as well as define the rights to this data.

Determann emphasized that in European Union countries, companies are required to obtain consent from clients for the processing of their personal data, including users of online resources.

Representatives of the Association believe that each country should take care of protecting its citizens and their personal data from interference by other states.
