Since the beginning of 2023, efforts to clean the lake from debris have intensified.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, divers have surveyed over one million hectares of the lake's bottom. By 2025, it is planned to extract about 43 tons of garbage and over 400 kilometers of fishing nets, which were previously handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

In the last four months, 141 thousand meters of fishing nets have been extracted, which are now being sent for disposal to the Eco-Technology Waste Recycling Plant.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations also noted that for the past 20-30 years, synthetic fishing nets have accumulated in Issyk-Kul, making fish vulnerable to poachers. These nets are non-biodegradable and have been causing serious harm to the lake's ecosystem for many years.
