At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Science, Education, Innovative Development, and Culture on March 2, Deputy Minister of Education Nadira Dzhusupbekova announced that the spring break for students has been extended from March 2 to March 8. This decision was made after numerous requests from parents and consultations with the expert community.

She explained that in the current academic year, students will study for a standard 34 weeks. The curriculum is divided into four quarters, with breaks after the first quarter typically lasting 5 days, and a longer period after the second quarter.

Dzhusupbekova noted that the reduction of breaks in the third quarter is related to the introduction of a new Labor Code in January 2026, as well as additional holidays in May from May 1 to May 10, which effectively adds another period of rest for students.

“However, we received numerous requests from parents. We discussed the situation with representatives of schools, experts, and methodologists, as well as with the Kyrgyz Academy of Education, and decided to extend the spring break,” she added.

The Deputy Minister also reported that the Ministry of Education and the Kyrgyz Academy of Education have been instructed to take into account the opinions of parents, educators, and specialists when drafting the holiday schedule for the 2026-2027 academic year.

In the future, when forming the holiday schedule, it is planned to more rationally distribute academic loads and rest periods, taking into account the opinions of society and the professional community.
