As it became known on February 24, the spring break will begin on March 2. Teachers expressed concerns on social media, wondering how to manage to submit quarter grades in the remaining three days.
The department emphasized that the initial calendar planning is done taking into account reserve hours and the need to conduct assessments within the quarter.
The Ministry stated: "Assessment should be evenly distributed throughout the quarter, rather than concentrated only in the last days." They understand teachers' anxiety about the workload at the end of the reporting period and recommend the following:
- optimally distribute assessments and tests;
- use reserve hours if necessary;
- ensure timely entry of grades, avoiding excessive burden on educators," the official statement indicated.
"When creating the academic schedule, not only workloads are considered, but also the presence of holidays and weekends. In particular, the IV quarter traditionally has additional days off related to the Orozoi Ait holiday, as well as the May holidays. This reduces the actual number of school days in the IV quarter," the ministry added.
If the spring break were postponed to a later date (for example, from March 9 or after Nowruz), it would lead to a significant extension of the III quarter and a reduction of the IV quarter, which already contains holidays.
