In the Aravan district of the Osh region, students of the Madamin Nazarov school are forced to study in the premises of a mosque and a rural health post, local residents told a Turmush correspondent.

According to the head of the district education department, Jakyp Mamajanov, classes in these alternative classrooms began in September of this year.

“We adapted the mosque building for educational needs in cooperation with the village administration and transferred some students there. Elementary school children are studying in the premises of the rural health post. The project for the new school has been completed and is under review. The tender for construction has already been announced by the Capital Construction Department, and work will begin immediately after its completion. The new school will accommodate 150 students,” he explained.

Ulmasbek Kadyrov, head of the Dobo-Korgon village administration, noted that the school building was constructed back in 1968.

“The roof of the school was leaking, and to ensure the safety of the children, we had to transfer them to other premises. In 2017, the Ministry of Emergency Situations declared the school unsafe and unsuitable for learning. It was included in the list of facilities funded by the republican budget. There was no opportunity to build a school on a new site due to the lack of available land, so the old building was slated for demolition. The project for the new school began to be developed in 2024,” he added.

Since September, students have been transferred to a school in a neighboring village, located 2.5–3 kilometers away, which created certain inconveniences. In response to requests from local residents, they were accommodated in three-room buildings of the mosque and health post, where a heating system and other necessary conditions were created at the expense of the village administration,” Kadyrov reported.

According to available data, the school serves the village of Jangy-Abad and currently has 340 students. The village has about 300 residential houses, and the population is approximately 1,900 people.
