Meizbubu Myrsalieva, a 74-year-old resident of the Talas region, recently ran 3 kilometers at a recent marathon.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, she spoke about her roots, having been born in the village of Boo-Terek in the Bakai-Ata district. Her father worked in education for many years, serving as a school principal. The family had seven children, six of whom became teachers after receiving higher education.

In 1969, she graduated from high school and enrolled in the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the Kyrgyz National University, graduating in 1974. “We were directed to work as teachers. I began my career at Kalinin Secondary School in the Kemin district, teaching German. My class was 5 years younger than me, and other teachers refused to take it. I was young, and I managed to achieve good results. After six months, I was appointed deputy director for educational and extracurricular work,” she said.

Later, Meizbubu married Abdymalik Sadyrkov, and after the birth of their daughter, they moved to her husband's village. In 1976, she began working at a school in the village of Kok-Sai in the Aitmatov district, where she worked for 40 years. “I am proud of my students; many of them successfully entered universities and went to Germany. Some of them work in higher educational institutions. My students from Germany always brought me gifts,” she noted.

Recently, a marathon took place in the Talas region. “My son told me about the event, and I became interested. On the day of the race, he asked if I would change my mind about participating, as young people were falling. But I was confident in my abilities and went for the run. We had a subject called ‘tourism’ at the university, and I always loved climbing mountains, which helped me in my preparation. On the day of the marathon, I warmed up and ran 3 km in 20 minutes. I was awarded a prize of 25,000 soms as the oldest participant, and I was very happy,” she added.

Myrsalieva also noted that she and her husband raised two sons and two daughters.
