The next heroine in our "Our People Abroad" section is Tolgonai Cholponkulova, who has been living in Dubai for five years.
She was born in 1993 in the village of Birinchi Mai, located in the Bakai-Ata district of the Talas region. Currently, Tolgonai works as a realtor in one of the construction companies, where communication takes place in Arabic and English. Among her clients are Arabs, Indians, and Iranians.
“I came to Dubai with the aim of earning money, so I don’t tie myself to one company. I also work as an accountant at a modeling school, as my appearance and figure meet the requirements. If there is a shortage of models, I am invited to work in that role. The first days in a new country were not easy due to the language barrier. I strongly recommend all my compatriots who plan to come here to learn the language in advance. Many come from Central Asia and find work only in the service sector, such as pedicure, waiter, or driver. However, knowing English gives them the opportunity to start at a higher position and adapt more quickly in a new country. Currently, I speak three languages: Kyrgyz, Russian, and English,” Tolgonai shared. She also shared her impressions of the differences between Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates.
“In Kyrgyzstan, the air is clean and the natural landscapes are magnificent. In Dubai, it’s hot, but all conditions for comfortable living are created, along with high salaries. There’s another point: if you leave your things somewhere, they will remain in place because no one will touch them. You won’t encounter drunk people or the homeless on the streets. The law really works here,” Cholponkulova noted.
She mentioned that she graduated from the International University of Kyrgyzstan, obtaining a degree in accounting and taxation.
Tolgonai has seven siblings.
“My main task is to help clients buy or sell real estate at the right time and at the optimal price. My company is one of the first in the UAE that has close ties with the Dubai Land Department. I have been working as an expert in elite real estate at this company for three years,” she added.
