Begimai Kankeldieva, the heroine of our "Our People Abroad" section, has been living in Sweden for five years with her husband and children.

She was born in 1991 in the Jalal-Abad region.

The journey begins in the native village

In our family, there are six children, and I am the youngest. I got married 14 years ago in the Nooken district. I have two sons and a daughter, and I am happy to be a beloved wife.

Our family moved to Sweden five years ago, and our youngest daughter was born here. Initially, we aimed to provide our children with a European education and broaden their worldview. Earning money or buying a home was not part of our plans; those thoughts came after we moved.

Traveling before Sweden

My husband and I have visited Spain, Germany, and Russia, and I had the opportunity to visit Riga myself. In the future, we plan to explore all of Europe. At the moment, I am on maternity leave, but I continue to work in the online SMM field, collaborating with well-known personalities from Kyrgyzstan. Recently, we purchased an apartment in the very center of Stockholm and are living here legally.

Comparison of Sweden and Kyrgyzstan

The difference between these countries is enormous. In Sweden, I felt true freedom and freed myself from the concern of others' opinions. Here, people do not interfere in your life and do not judge. Sweden has taught me patience and attention to detail.

Here, laws are strictly enforced, and corruption is absent. Migrants are not considered a separate category; excellent conditions have been created for them. Swedes are polite and modest, and in terms of values, they are close to those who practice Islam, despite the fact that most of them are not Muslims. Early in the morning, people start their day, and late in the evening, they try not to go out. The official languages are Swedish and English.

They have a tradition of gathering for coffee meetings, while we are accustomed to gathering over pilaf.

I also noticed that Swedes are not very talkative and sometimes find it difficult to start a conversation. People are quite reserved and do not open up right away.

Husband's career and children's sports achievements

My husband recently received a promotion — he is now a foreman in the construction industry. Our children are actively involved in sports, participating in wrestling and jiu-jitsu, and they are winning prizes.

Future plans — returning to Kyrgyzstan

We plan to return to Kyrgyzstan and open a business that will benefit society. We do not intend to open cafes or shops, as there are already enough of them, but there is a lack of places for useful leisure activities.

In Sweden, there are libraries everywhere and free kindergartens for mothers on maternity leave, where you can spend quality time with children. Free parks and swimming pools are also available. We dream of implementing a similar system in Kyrgyzstan.
