Gulmira Zholdosheva, 51 years old, from Bakai-Ata, is a deputy of the local kenesh and actively supports women in her community.

She was born in the village of Chon-Kapka (Pushkin) in the Manas district and was the fourth of nine children.

“My parents were shepherds and dedicated their whole lives to the collective farm. I married in Bakai-Ata to the son of a prominent mullah. Sultan and I have three daughters and a son. Our daughters are already married, and our son is studying. We have nine grandchildren,” she shares.

In April 2021, she was elected as a deputy of the Bakai-Ata ayil kenesh. Her involvement in public affairs began when her daughter’s class teacher, Aina, suggested she become an assistant and work with parents. This became a catalyst for her active community engagement. Soon, she gathered housewives and created the “Timur Team,” which performed work for local residents for a fee.

During the elections, women and elders came to her with a proposal: “Work for us.” Thanks to their support, she received the highest number of votes. Since then, Gulmira has been implementing projects to support women and social initiatives. Her husband, the son of a prominent mullah, always supports her, saying, “Bring benefit to society; you can do it,” Gulmira recounts.

She also actively participates in public works beyond her district.

“The most memorable experience for me was accompanying humanitarian aid during the Batken events. As soon as I learned about the situation, I reached out to the people through social media, and we began to collect aid. We contacted the affected individuals to find out what they needed the most. I delivered 52 tons of humanitarian aid and returned with a report,” she shares.

Her home is considered the most beautiful and exemplary in the village, and it has been filmed for television multiple times.

“Although our house is old, more than 80 types of flowers grow in front of it. I have many more houseplants. I am passionate about flowers, but I don’t sell them; I give seeds to those who come asking. My husband says, ‘Your soul is as beautiful as the flowers,’” she emphasizes.
