There are just over half a million Kyrgyz citizens in Russia — Ministry of Labor
Deputy Minister of Labor Bakyt Darmankul uulu shared relevant information about Kyrgyz citizens abroad
During a joint meeting of the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too," Bakyt Darmankul uulu, who holds the position of Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration, reported that currently, about 798 thousand Kyrgyz citizens are outside the country, of which 532 thousand live in Russia. At the same time, 341 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan are registered with the migration authorities.
According to Darmankul uulu, in 2020-2021, the number of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia reached 708 thousand, but since then this figure has changed due to shifts in migration routes.
The Deputy Minister also noted that as of 2025, 124 thousand Kyrgyz citizens were unable to register with the migration authorities for various reasons. Russia provided foreigners with more than 9 months to legalize their status, and as a result, out of the remaining 124 thousand, 34 thousand Kyrgyz citizens remained unregistered.
