The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic made an important statement for employers regarding the consequences of delayed wages, referring to the provisions of the new Labor Code.
According to this regulatory framework, a uniform penalty rate for late payment of wages has been established. In the case of delayed wages, as well as vacation pay or settlements upon dismissal, the employer must pay a penalty of 0.25% of the amount owed for each overdue day.
Additionally, according to the new Labor Code, a statute of limitations for such disputes has been established. An employee who has not received their wages on time can file a lawsuit within three years from the date when the payment was due.
The agency noted that these measures are aimed at protecting the labor rights of citizens and increasing the accountability of employers.
