At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Minister of Health Kanibek Dosmambetov voiced the idea that the state should become the main provider of hemodialysis services.

In response to questions from deputies regarding the lack of hemodialysis centers in certain regions, the minister noted that currently these services are primarily provided by private clinics.

“Private institutions cover 90 percent of those in need. We are using outsourcing, and the state finances each procedure, allocating 6,500 soms. I believe that hemodialysis services should be returned to the public health system, as patients express dissatisfaction with the quality of service and the condition of equipment in some private clinics. The state allocates about 4 billion soms annually for hemodialysis,” the minister emphasized.

Dosmambetov added that the possibility of creating hemodialysis centers in areas where they currently do not exist is being explored, if the state takes on the provision of these services.

It is worth noting that in 2017, the Ministry of Health began reducing hemodialysis departments in public institutions and launched a project based on public-private partnership, which led to the transfer of services to private clinics.
