With the introduction of the powers of notaries to collect debts, citizens have faced unexpected financial burdens. This was reported by deputy Dastan Bekeshev at a meeting of the committee on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition.

Bekeshev reminded that as a result of the reform by the Ministry of Justice, notaries were granted the right to collect debts.

“In cases of debt collection, banks and microfinance organizations turn to notaries. Previously, they paid minimal state duty fees, but now this amount has increased to 2,000 soms. Moreover, notary services cost between 10,000 and 25,000 soms. Thus, if a person owes 5 or 7 thousand soms, in the end, they will have to pay an additional 20,000 soms to the notary and 2,000 soms in state duty, which totals 32,000 soms,” the deputy noted.

He added that an additional financial burden has fallen on the population. Despite the fact that the Ministry of Justice's initiative was justified, Bekeshev expressed the opinion that there is a need to establish a minimum threshold of debt from which one can turn to notaries for collection.
