Finally, the city hall has acknowledged the need for its restoration.
Historical Facts about the Palace
The architects V. Marukov and N. Kostin developed the building's project in 1941, but due to the circumstances of that time, construction was halted. The palace was opened only in 1974, receiving the name Koshomkul Sports Palace. At that time, it looked as follows:In 1993, the swimming pool was leased, and it functioned for a while. However, it soon fell into disrepair and was declared unsafe. As a result, a roller skating area was organized here for a short period, which caused dissatisfaction among some residents who considered it disrespectful to sports, the building itself, and Koshomkul.
Later, the swimming pool fell into complete ruin, and now only a vacant lot remains at that location.
“First, we need to resolve the issue of transferring the building, and the design work will begin in the spring. As soon as we determine how the reconstruction will be carried out, we will definitely inform about it,” the Bishkek city hall noted.
