Issyk-Kul Region to Transition to Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation

Bakyt Torobaev, who holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, announced the launch of a program under which farmers who choose drip and sprinkler irrigation will be provided with preferential loans at a low interest rate of 2%. This information was shared by the minister during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh while answering questions from deputies.

According to him, the process of issuing loans will begin within the next month. He also emphasized the key importance of fully transitioning the Issyk-Kul region to drip irrigation.

“Transitioning to drip irrigation will increase the volume of water flowing into Issyk-Kul. If all the water is used for agricultural needs, it will not reach Issyk-Kul. That is why we set ourselves the goal of completely transitioning the Issyk-Kul region to drip and sprinkler irrigation,” added Minister Bakyt Torobaev.
