As a result, not all collected funds are reaching the city budget
At a recent meeting of the Bishkek City Council, Deputy Kazybek Ergeshov raised the issue of the existence of a "parking mafia," which, according to him, hinders the full collection of funds for the capital's budget.
According to information from the city hall, there are 45 parking lots operating in Bishkek, of which 23 are municipal, as well as more than 3,000 parking spaces near markets. The standard parking fee is 25 soms.
However, Ergeshov emphasized that at the markets, the fees reach 50 soms.
“I proposed cooperation with a person who was ready to work with local authorities and lease the parking lots. However, I was informed that all contracts have already been signed until the end of the year. There is a mafia operating there. There are corrupt schemes. This system needs to be exposed. A special commission should be created to conduct an investigation,” the deputy suggested.
