Hideki Sato, one of the leading developers of Sega game consoles, passed away in Japan at the age of 77. Information about his death appeared in the publication Kotaku, but the cause of this tragic event has not been specified.

Sato began his career at Sega in 1971 and spent more than five decades with the company. His contribution to the development of the brand's hardware was significant, including participation in the creation of home gaming systems.

Under his direct involvement, consoles such as the Sega Mega Drive (known as Genesis in the USA), Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast were developed. These devices left a notable mark in the history of video games in the late 1980s and 1990s.

It was on the Mega Drive that the game Sonic the Hedgehog featuring the blue hedgehog Sonic became popular, and this character became a symbol of Sega.

After the production of the Dreamcast ended, Sega decided to stop producing its own consoles and focused its efforts on developing video games and digital products.

In industry publications, Hideki Sato is described as one of the key engineers who influenced the technological development of Sega during the golden era of home consoles.
