At a recent meeting of the Environmental Council dedicated to improving air quality, the Mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev, reported on the activities of municipal services aimed at protecting green spaces.

As the mayor noted, city services are engaged not only in the removal of trees that pose a danger but also in their treatment and preventive care.

According to the mayor, in 2025, 93,522 trees were treated in the capital, which is three times higher than in previous years.

These actions are aimed at preventing plant diseases and increasing their lifespan.

“We are doing everything possible to preserve the trees and ensure their long life. However, there are cases when they may fall, causing harm to people or damaging property. Therefore, some hazardous trees are subject to removal,” added Aybek Junushaliev.

The issues of tree removal remain very relevant and sensitive for the city's residents. Many questions were raised at the Eco Council regarding the criteria for recognizing trees as hazardous and the process of their removal.

The mayor emphasized that when making decisions, city authorities strive to find a balance between ensuring the safety of citizens and the necessity of preserving the green spaces of the capital.
