The new buses will operate on the narrow streets of residential areas
Bishkek plans to acquire 625 compact buses in the near future. This information was announced by Ulanbek Beyshenbaev, the director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the city administration.
According to Beyshenbaev, his department is actively considering various options, analyzing prices and technical parameters of the vehicles.
“The buses will operate on the narrow roads of residential areas,” he assured.
Additionally, all municipal buses will be equipped with air conditioning to enhance passenger comfort.
It is also worth noting that Beyshenbaev mentioned plans to review all bus routes in the capital for the purpose of their “optimization.”
This will lead to the necessity of transfers for passengers to reach their final destination.
As compensation, the city administration offers the possibility to transfer to another bus within one hour, paying for the ride only once. However, this initiative has already sparked negative reactions from residents, who fear it will adversely affect their financial situation and increase travel time.
