As of now, there are 1567 buses in Bishkek, and plans are in place to purchase 625 new models that are 8 meters long. This was reported by Ulanbek Beishenbaev, the director of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the capital's mayoralty.
Of the total number of buses, 350 are 12-meter models, while the rest are 10.5-meter models. These buses are classified as high-capacity, which meets the transportation requirements in Bishkek.
Regarding the new 95 Yutong buses, Beishenbaev noted that they are currently undergoing customs clearance. After receiving registration plates, the buses will be immediately put into operation on the routes.
In response to questions about the procurement process and the tender, he emphasized that all actions will be carried out in strict accordance with the law.
“We plan to conduct all procedures within the framework of the legislation. Currently, we are monitoring prices and the condition of the equipment. As mentioned earlier, the new buses will be equipped with air conditioning and adapted for people with disabilities,” he added.
