
During this period, 567 million dollars were invested in the water sector
At a meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, information was presented about the condition of drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities in the settlements of Kyrgyzstan. This became known from a press release of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Zhanibek Kerimaliev emphasized that since 2021, special attention has been paid to the water sector.
The total amount of attracted investments is 567 million dollars, of which 55 million were allocated from the republican budget.
“These investments have allowed for the improvement of water supply systems in 25 cities and 601 villages from 2021 to 2025,” he added.
During the discussion, committee members emphasized the need to accelerate the process of providing the population with quality drinking water.
Deputy Alisher Kozyuev proposed to expedite the commissioning of treatment facilities in Kara-Suu, specifying that the work is planned to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Deputy Nilufer Alimjanova highlighted the importance of creating laboratories in the regions to monitor water quality.
Committee Chairman Bakyt Tentishev noted that water quality must meet sanitary standards, and it is also necessary to implement systems for water purification and disinfection.
