"First, we will install 6,000 cameras, then we will add another 20,000 and more"
Over the next two years, complete video surveillance is planned across the entire territory of Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev announced these intentions at a parliamentary meeting on February 26.
During the discussion of questions from deputies regarding public safety, Ashirkhodzhaev spoke about the current initiatives of his department.
He noted that cameras are currently functioning as part of the "Safe City" and "Safe Country" projects. Initially, 6,000 cameras will be installed, after which an additional 20,000 are planned. Complete video surveillance coverage is expected within 1-2 years, the deputy minister stated.
Deputy Burul Amanova also suggested that in areas where there are no video cameras, patrols should be placed, especially in public transport, shopping centers, and other crowded places.
