On February 26, another free kidney transplant was successfully performed at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health (NCMCH). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

According to the agency, the patient was a person born in 1981, who had been undergoing treatment for chronic programmed hemodialysis since 2018. The kidney donor was his brother, born in 1978. Both patients are feeling well and are under careful medical supervision.

Kidney transplants at NCMCH have been conducted since 2018, and since then, 81 surgeries have been performed, of which 38 were done on a budgetary basis.

The institution has also implemented a new methodology for immunological testing during transplantation. This includes determining histocompatibility using the HLA system, crossmatch tests, and calculating the PRA index. These measures enhance the safety of the operations and improve long-term treatment outcomes.

Currently, there are about 200 patients on the waiting list for kidney transplantation, suffering from stage 5 chronic kidney disease.

The medical team at NCMCH is ready to accept patients for consultations and preparation for possible surgeries.
