Strengthening Engineering Protection of the State Border and Counteracting Smuggling Discussed in Kulunda

On March 3, 2026, a meeting dedicated to border security issues was held in the village of Kulundu, located in the Leilek district. The event was chaired by Abdikarim Alimbaev, the head of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, as reported by the organization's press service.

The agenda included discussions on the results of work on the engineering reinforcement of the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border, as well as measures to combat smuggling and an analysis of the current global political situation.

Participants of the meeting included military unit commanders, representatives of border units, as well as Jenishbek Asylbek, the akim of the Leilek district, and employees of law enforcement agencies.

As a result of the discussions, specific instructions were given to strengthen physical and engineering protection of the border, enhance the effectiveness of preventive measures, and improve the exchange of operational information between various units.
