In 2022, Tokmok witnessed a unique event: for the first time, and possibly the last, a festive Eid prayer was held in the central square of the city.

This took place on July 9, 2022, when the Eid al-Adha prayer was conducted not in mosques, but in the Sultan Ibrahimov Square.

Imam Imirjan Kasymov noted that on that day, an unprecedented number of people gathered in the square — from 8,000 to 9,000. "Previously, celebrations were always held in mosques, and this case was the first in the square," he said.

Although there are 20 functioning mosques in Tokmok, this experience of holding the festive prayer in the main square remained unique. According to local residents, since that time, starting from the summer of 2022, Eid prayers have not been held in the central square, and the prayers returned to the mosques.

Many townspeople believe that that day became an important symbol of unity, as the central square was able to accommodate thousands of people at once.
