17 apartment buildings were planned to be built on the cemetery
On March 24, a day before, about 1,300 trees were planted at the site of the former Kholov Cemetery in Osh, as reported by the city administration.
The event was attended by Mayor Janarbek Akaev, Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision Akyl Toktobaev, as well as deputies and residents of Osh.
Akaev noted: "This area was previously planned for the construction of residential buildings. It was intended to build 17 high-rise buildings, and some entrepreneurs even won tenders for this work. However, we promptly stopped this illegal activity. Now we are working on arranging this territory and turning it into a green zone. We need to negotiate with large private companies to create a park here," the mayor added.
