Kyrgyzstan wants to join the agreement on Asian highways

Negotiations are underway to restore air communication between Bishkek and Ulaanbaatar

On March 24, 2026, a meeting took place in Ulaanbaatar between the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Mongolia, Aibek Moldogaziev, and the Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads of Mongolia, Gochoogiin Ganbold.

During the discussion, the focus was on expanding cooperation in the transportation sector, including the possibility of including Kyrgyzstan in the intergovernmental agreement on international road transport along the network of Asian highways. This agreement was signed in 2016 by Mongolia, Russia, and China.

Additionally, the parties discussed the initiative to restore direct flights between Bishkek and Ulaanbaatar.

Kyrgyz representatives emphasized that the development of transport corridors and logistics plays a key role in increasing trade turnover and ensuring stable supplies. Mongolia, in turn, expressed interest in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and proposed organizing a separate meeting for relevant agencies.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to continue work on all discussed issues.
