On March 27, the city court in Bishkek acquitted the defendants in the Kempiir-Abad case, as reported by the judicial authority.
The proceedings involved the cases of 22 activists, including politicians and journalists. Many of them were under house arrest.
Human rights activist Gulshaiyr Abdiarasulova expressed her joy about the court's decision on social media: "What happiness! Finally, a conclusion has been reached in the Kempiir-Abad case! Congratulations to all the acquitted and heartfelt thanks to their lawyers! You are magnificent!"
Let us remind you that the detention of the activists took place in October 2022 in connection with accusations of organizing mass riots, and they were charged under Article 326 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
