20th anniversary of 24.kg. Experience and life lessons - former employees on working at the agency
Twenty years ago, the story of the news agency 24.kg began, which became not only a bold media project but also a true school for journalists.

Over two decades, professionals have emerged from this agency—reporters, editors, and media managers working in various fields. In honor of the anniversary, we decided to ask former employees what their time at 24.kg gave them and what valuable lessons they took with them.

Aida Jumashova, journalist at Sputnik Kyrgyzstan:

— For me, 24.kg became a true school of journalism. Under the guidance of Asel Otorbaeva, I learned how to write, find and verify information, as well as build communication with respondents.

2019 is the year that I remember the most.

Aida Jumashova

August 2019 was particularly memorable, when turbulent political events were happening in the country related to the arrest of former president Almazbek Atambayev.

After my vacation, I found myself in the village of Koi-Tash, where I was waiting for comments from Atambayev. The situation escalated when special forces stormed the yard, and that evening I was injured in the leg.

Editor Makhinur Niyazova helped us get out of the dangerous situation.

Working at 24.kg taught me responsibility, courage, and loyalty to the profession.

Aida Jumashova

I wish 24.kg continued success and a strong team filled with interesting projects!

Bolot Kolbaev, journalist at a regional publication:

— I started working at 24.kg right after university. Just 2-3 days after graduation, and I was already immersed in the profession that I still engage in today.

I had strict mentors and responsive colleagues who helped me quickly master the secrets of journalism.

In a short time, I witnessed many significant events: athletes' successes, political crises, and mass protests.

The experience of working at 24.kg taught me how words can inspire or plunge into pessimism.

Bolot Kolbaev

I am grateful to 24.kg for teaching me responsibility in journalism. Congratulations on the anniversary and wish you prosperity!

Daniyar Karimov, editor at the Central Asian representative office of "Rossiskaya Gazeta":

— At 24.kg, I experienced the brightest moment of my career. The unique creative atmosphere and support from the team contributed to my growth.

At 24.kg, I learned from the best and am proud to have been part of this community when it was just starting. It was a path to success and recognition.

I am proud to have helped 24.kg become a brand and one of the best media outlets in the country.

Daniyar Karimov

Working at the agency taught me the importance of promptness and the ability to appreciate diverse opinions. Thank you, 24.kg!

Shavkat Turgaev, journalist and presenter at the "Current Time" channel:

— I came to 24.kg because it was one of the best agencies in the country. Asel Ernestovna welcomed me very warmly, and I have no regrets about my choice.

Working at 24.kg was filled with events, including rallies and political upheavals.

The time spent at the agency left many bright memories. Congratulations to the editorial team on the anniversary!

Jazgul Masalieva, press secretary of the Ombudsman of the KR:

— I came to 24.kg in 2006, when the agency was just starting its activities. My first resume was not accepted, but in 2012 I was offered a job in the Kyrgyz version.

24.kg helped me realize myself as a journalist, and I worked with outstanding editors.

Working at 24.kg taught me promptness and the importance of legally correct presentation of information.

We focused on the promptness and exclusivity of materials.

Jazgul Masalieva

Working at a leading news agency allowed us to respond quickly to societal requests. The time of the pandemic and political crises was a real test for the entire team.

I remember how once a security guard at the business center where 24.kg's office was located said: "I saw you on Russian TV—you asked Putin a question." That was nice!

Yulia Lipovich, translator:

— I came to 24.kg as a translator in 2006, after university, and it became a true professional school for me. I learned the standards of quality journalism and the responsibility for words.

I am grateful to 24.kg for the opportunities and the atmosphere in which young specialists could develop.

Yulia Lipovich

On the anniversary day, I wish the agency further prosperity and the preservation of independence, for which 24.kg has always been respected. May bright projects and talented journalists await ahead!
