In Kyrgyzstan, important changes are brewing in driver training. Now, training for category "B" in driving schools will last from the usual 2.5-3 months to 10, while training for category "C" will increase to a year. The initiators of this decision cite the need to enhance road safety; however, this initiative has faced criticism both in society and in parliament. Many are questioning whether such an extension of the training process is justified and whether it will create additional difficulties for citizens?

During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 15, Deputy Bolot Ibragimov expressed his protest against the extension of training periods. He believes that the main reason for the high accident rate is not short courses, but corruption and a lack of effective state control.

Deputy Dastan Bekeshev supported this viewpoint, noting that in countries such as Japan and the USA, training lasts about three months. He also expressed concern that due to rising prices and the length of courses, Kyrgyz citizens may start going to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to study. Thus, instead of enhancing safety, the initiative may only contribute to "educational tourism" in neighboring countries. Meanwhile, as reported by the Presidential Administration, student enrollment will begin on January 19 through the "Tunduk" system. Currently, many driving schools in the capital are not conducting enrollment.

What can be learned in 10 months?

The editorial team decided to find out what specialties can be mastered in the same 10 months while a potential driver is studying at a driving school. It turned out that this list is quite broad. For example, at Vocational Lyceum No. 10, one can become a cook in 10 months, while obtaining the profession of a pastry chef will require 12 months. Given that most meetings in Kyrgyzstan take place in cafes and restaurants, cooks have good employment prospects. The lyceum also has budget places available.

Tour Operator

With the increasing interest in foreign travel and the desire to simplify travel organization, the profession of a tour operator is becoming increasingly in demand. These specialists handle visa processing, ticket booking, hotel reservations, and logistics organization. This profession can be mastered at one of the vocational lyceums, but some travel agencies also offer their courses, which last about two months.

Auto Electrician

At Vocational Lyceum No. 20, training for an auto electrician-diagnostician is intended for people up to 35 years old and lasts 10 months.

IT Specialist

At IT centers in Bishkek, one can master the profession of a graphic designer or tester in just four months. If you spend a little more time, you can become a motion design specialist in five months, and in six months, learn the Python programming language.

IT experts strongly recommend not to limit oneself to a narrow specialization due to high competition, but to choose comprehensive courses such as "full-stack development." This format includes three specialties: backend development, frontend, and design, as well as skills in testing the finished product. In one of the programming schools, training takes 8 months with regular and focused study.

Learning Foreign Languages

English language teachers claim that one level can be completed in 3.5 months if the student actively participates in classes. In 10 months, one can master two levels and reach the third. Turkish language courses also take about three months for one level. The basic level of Chinese is studied longer—approximately 6-10 months—which allows for significant improvement in knowledge, although the language cannot be fully mastered in that time.

Beauty Industry

The training period can also be productive for those wishing to work in the beauty industry. During the time spent obtaining a driver's license, one can sequentially obtain certificates in hairdressing, makeup artistry, coloring, and manicure. In this case, the training period can vary from 1 to 3 months, but the experience and competence of the instructor are crucial.

Tailor and Designer of National Products

One can obtain the profession of a tailor with cutting skills at one of the vocational lyceums, for example, at Lyceum No. 17, where an official document is issued upon completion. Vocational Lyceum No. 10 also offers courses for designers of national clothing. Additionally, there are private companies and specialists that offer sewing training. Such training can be completed in less than 10 months, after which one can start working in the sewing industry, which is valued both domestically and abroad.
