At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Law and Order, held on January 13, Deputy Abdyladbek Egemberdiev expressed concern about the effectiveness of average speed control on the roads.

He emphasized that drivers are capable of adjusting their travel time by making stops, which can affect compliance with speed limits.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov reported on Kyrgyzstan's transition from the "Safe City" project to a more ambitious "Safe Country" program, which involves improving the road control system, including the implementation of average speed control.

According to him, this is necessary, as 70% of serious road traffic accidents are related to speeding.

Urmambetov noted that drivers should adhere to the established speed limits consistently, not just when they see cameras or traffic police officers. The main goal of this innovation is to reduce the number of accidents and save lives, he added.

He previously mentioned testing the average speed control system on the Bishkek—Tokmok highway.
