At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on issues of justice, law enforcement, the fight against crime, and corruption, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov stated the need for the certification of all doctors to work with breathalyzers.
Deputy Bolo Ibragimov emphasized that the ability to conduct breath tests on-site for drivers is extremely relevant.
Urmambetov added that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has already initiated a request to the Ministry of Health regarding the use of breathalyzers. This issue was discussed with ministers and their deputies, as the lack of certified specialists has led to problems in judicial practice, including the annulment of 259 protocols.
The deputy minister reported that work is underway in district hospitals to certify medical professionals, which will allow them to legally and correctly use breathalyzers. This, in turn, should help avoid judicial difficulties.
