Asel Azamatova accused her ex-husband, deputy Eldar Sulaymanov, of regularly committing acts of violence within the family.
The Bishkek City Police Department confirmed that Asel Azamatova filed a complaint requesting measures to be taken against her ex-spouse, claiming that he had subjected her to psychological pressure for a long time. Additionally, she reported instances of physical violence. In this regard, the police have initiated an investigation, which resulted in the issuance of a protection order.
In response to the allegations, Eldar Sulaymanov stated in an interview with Kaktus.media that he considers himself innocent and claimed that the allegations of violence are one-sided and require legal assessment.
It is worth noting that Asel Azamatova had approached the editorial office of Kaktus.media in 2022, but at that time she decided not to publish her materials. Now she has chosen to share her story again, emphasizing that she was scared last time, but now she intends to see the matter through.
Asel claims that her ex-husband used violence even during her pregnancy, blackmailed her with their children, and created unbearable living conditions.
"I was dependent on him both financially and emotionally. Being pregnant with our third child, leaving with three kids seemed like an extremely frightening step. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to provide for them," she shared. Now Asel has changed her attitude towards the situation.
"I can provide my children with a decent standard of living, including a good school and quality childhood, but without conflicts between parents," she added.
Azamatova emphasized that the issue of domestic violence in the country is relevant, and it is very difficult for women to find protection.
At the moment, she is striving to ensure that her ex-husband does not turn the children against her.
Eldar Sulaymanov, for his part, denies all accusations, claiming that he has never used physical force against his wife. He believes that the current events are an attempt to create a false public opinion against the backdrop of the pressing issue of domestic violence.
Sulaymanov also added that in some cases he himself became a victim of aggression. Conflicts with Azamatova often occurred in public places and sometimes required the intervention of law enforcement agencies. He expressed the opinion that public condemnation often falls on him. The deputy deemed the accusations against him as unfair and driven by emotional state following the divorce, urging the public to refrain from premature judgments and to remember that this is a private family situation.
