On January 5, ten people were found guilty in a Paris court of cyberbullying and spreading false information about France's First Lady Brigitte Macron, claiming that she was allegedly born a man. Among them, eight men and two women received a sentence of eight months in prison, suspended. This was reported by Reuters.

The convicted individuals were accused of sexist and transphobic attacks based on a series of publications and videos that asserted Brigitte Macron is a "man" and that she is actually her brother Jean-Michel Trogneux. Additionally, the discussion of the age difference between the spouses also became a target of mockery, which had previously gone unnoticed but has recently received legal attention.

In an interview with TF1 the evening before, Brigitte Macron expressed hope that her fight against bullying would serve as an example for others. She noted that online attacks against her continue endlessly and include actions by "people who hacked my tax office and changed my personal information." "My birth certificate is not a trivial matter. It is the parents who declare their child, determining their gender," the First Lady commented in response to the offensive remarks directed at her.
